Top Ten Habits of Successful Students

1. Waking up Early
Waking up early will set the tone for the day. Weather its fast, medium or slow, the tone of the day is set when you wake up. Early Wakers will have advantage over others in terms of time, planning and freshness throughout the day in comparison with the one who wake up late in the morning.

2. Hydration
As soon as you wake up, consuming a large glass of water demonstrably improves concentration and combats the dreaded mid-morning slump. And even during the entire day, make sure you drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.

3. Good Breakfast
having a strong breakfast also adds towards your success. In the morning routine avoid taking much of the sugar intake. Instead Bournvita, Boost, Horlicks or other vita supplemental milk is good for you. That will help you sustain your focus for extended periods. Additionally, if possible, have brainpower snacks like crushed nuts with jaggery for later consumption.

4. Daily Course Preview
Every day, you are supposed to dedicate 15 minutes to meticulously reviewing your academic schedule. Preview upcoming lessons, jot down key concepts requiring further review, and ensure you have all necessary textbooks and assignments readily available.

5. Practice, peace of mind for Mental Clarity
How will you do that? It’s very simple, resist the urge to succumb to the allure of social media. Instead, dedicate a brief period to cultivating some meditation practices for at least 10 minutes a day. 6. Attend you tuitions/classes
Attending tuitions/classes, holistically or with an intent to learn is equally important for the studies. When you are in class, be attentive, be focussed on what is being taught, be prepared to ask questions if you have any.

7. Help Someone and Get helped by someone
Be it can be your tuition mate or hostel mate or whomsoever you have good understanding. If you are comfortable with the current topic which has been taught then see someone who needs help to understand it, and vice versa. Though independent study has its own significant benefits, the benefits of having a study partner are also effective. If possible, schedule a short discussion with a classmate to engage in reciprocal questioning on key concepts or collaboratively tackle challenging problem sets.

8. Use the Pomodoro Technique
If you don’t know the Pomodoro Technique. Here are the details-
Set a timer for 30 minutes of focused studying, followed by a 5-minute mental revision of what you have studied in past 30 minutes, followed by a well-deserved 5-minute break. Repeat these cycles to maintain productivity and prevent burnout. In the break time do not switch to social media.

9. Prepare an Action Plan
Everyday morning or before you sleep prepare a to-do list specifically tailored to each subject. List any doubts/questions you have for instructors, upcoming test preparations, etc. And another important thing is act on the plans that you have made. If required, make daily plannings for few days and then switch to Three-day plan and then weekly plans.

10. Sleep Well
Sleep is important for students because it-
a. Improves academic performance by enhancing memory, concentration, and learning.

b. Boosts immune system by producing more T-cells that fight infections.

c. Helps prevent weight gain by regulating appetite and metabolism.

d. Reduces stress and improves mood by lowering cortisol and increasing serotonin levels.

e. Prevents lethargy and sleepiness by restoring energy and alertness.
