- Stay Physically Active.
Till your schooling days, be it’s a PT class or playing on the ground, you use to physically active knowingly or unknowingly. Post schooling days due to study pressure many of us fail to maintain the physical excercise routines. A regular exercise increases blood flow to the brain and stimulates growth factors that are important for neuroplasticity and overall brain health. Hence it is advised that a regular excercise routine should become part of your daily habits. - Maintain a Healthy Diet.
Most students tends to eat something that they are craving of, JUNK FOOD. It is important to have a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, good fats, vitamins, and minerals that provides essential nutrients for brain function. Foods like nuts, and green leafy vegetables are particularly beneficial. Plus avoid taking too much Sugar intake in form of chocolates, icecreams, cold drinks, sweets etc. - Limit Multitasking.
Many students are fond of doing multiple task at the same time, which is called multitasking. It is very important to note that if we focus on one task at a time, then it will ensure that our brain can process and store information efficiently about that one task, in comparison with multitasking. It’s a science proven fact tht multitasking can reduce the quality of learning and memory retention. - Stay Organized.
How is your desk? How is your Bed? How is your room? How is your personal belongings? Organized or disorganized? if it is organized, then you have advantage of wasting too little time, if its disorganized then you, your studies and your life all will be at mess. Apart from physically well organized table, room for your studies you can use tools like calendars, to-do lists, and notes to keep track of information and tasks, which helps reduce cognitive load. - Practice Spaced Revisions.
When we study, we usually overlook the aspect of revising what we have learnt? If you incorporate spaced repetition or revisions then it will help you retain the subject more efficiently. Spaced repetition method involves reviewing information at increasing intervals to help reinforce memory retention over time. - Teach Someone Else.
The secret of having profound, strong understanding of any subject lies if teaching. So, explaining what you’ve learned to someone else reinforces your own understanding. This will also helps to solidify your memory of the information that you have taught to someone else. - Engage in Mental Exercise.
When you engage yourself in mental exercises you tend to become more functional using your brain in complex ways. Hence whenever you spare time, do challenge your brain with puzzles, riddles, reading, learning a new language, or playing a musical instrument to keep it sharp and strong. - Practice Meditation.
Human mind is always busy in engaging itself with various thoughts. It is always said that, human mind is always in agitation. And mind without agitation if meditation. So when we meditate, it actually improve focus and cognitive flexibility. Both of then will help you to process and remember information more effectively. - Stay Social.
When we are socially inclined i.e. comfortable in interacting with others then this interacting with others can improve cognitive functions. Study also shows that social activities stimulate the brain, and reduces stress considerably. Being social will also enhance memory and learning through discussions and shared experiences. But if you are preparing for competitive exams then being social might have an adverse effect on you studies. - Get Good Sleep.
The most neglected factor about health is sleep. Sleep is critical for memory consolidation. If you have poor sleeping habits or over sleeping habits, both will affect your health and memory adversely. An adequate sleep time of 6-8 hours of quality sleep each night will significantly reflect in your memory also.
